Election night coverage | November 3–4, 2026

Americans vote on Tuesday, November 3, in elections for all 435 seats in the U.S. House of Representatives and 35 U.S. Senate seats, including special elections. Votendi will follow the balance of power in Congress, reported vote counts in selected Senate contests, and confirmed race calls. This page will be updated only as evidence becomes available from clearly identified sources.

Current editorial status: Awaiting verified election-night updates. No verified election-night vote totals or race calls have been entered yet. Polling averages, Cook Political Report race ratings and projections appear separately in the Votendi US Midterms hub.

How this page updates: The Votendi panel uses the same results snapshot on this page, our homepage and US hub. Automatic official vote imports via Open America are enabled for Iowa, Michigan and Texas after polls close, subject to candidate, completeness and freshness checks. Alaska, Michigan, Ohio and Texas also have independent, automatically refreshing watch.vote cards. Editors verify national seat calls and update Kansas and Maine manually. A lead is never treated as a race call. Source and verification times are shown separately.

Checking the latest verified results…

National race-call sources: Associated Press — House results and Associated Press — Senate results. State election portals below provide reported counts. A partial state feed is never treated as a nationwide total.

Control of the House — 435 seats; 218 for a majority

Called seats: Awaiting a verified, nationwide source. Uncalled races: Awaiting the same source. The number of races showing a candidate in the lead is not a count of confirmed winners.

Control of the Senate — 100 seats

65 seats are not on the ballot in the 2026 cycle; 35 Senate races are being contested. Our verified starting baseline is 34 seats aligned with the Democratic caucus and 31 Republican seats. The Democratic-aligned total includes 32 Democrats and two independents, Angus King and Bernie Sanders. These holdover seats are not election-night wins. The calculation uses the official Class I list and Class III list, excluding the Florida and Ohio seats contested in special elections, with Senate caucus information. Checked November 2, 2026.

Called Senate races in the 2026 cycle: Awaiting a named source. The seven featured races listed below are included within the 35 races, not added to them a second time.

What the result labels mean

Leading: a candidate has more votes in the current count; the race has not been called. Called: a named, reliable election-results organization has projected the winner, with a source and timestamp. Certified: the election authority has officially certified the outcome. A reported 100% of precincts is not certification.

Official state election websites are primary sources for reported vote counts; named national race calls require a separately verified calling organization. We will distinguish source publication time from Votendi verification time, mark corrections and avoid turning partial coverage into a nationwide seat total.

Updates and corrections

Reporting note: An unreported result is unknown, not zero. Reported vote counts, named race calls and officially certified outcomes will be identified separately.
